Uh?

Decided to drop by and was surprised to find out that my previous theme was lost. Hmm.. I don’t know what happened. But perfect timing because I have a new theme made by the lovely Dianne. Thanks a lot Dianne :)

Moving…

I’d be moving to a different home (online) soon :) I just registered for a new domain and hopefully I get to set up everything before the month ends. Will update you guys once my other site is up and running. :D

A procrastinator

I am a procrastinator. I still haven’t changed my nameservers. I tried to change them the other day, but was not able to successfully transfer my files to the new server. I tried to follow the tutorials found online on how to backup my database and how to import it back to the new server but for some reason I don’t have rights to create a database in the new server. So I just decided to use the old one again. My plan now is just to export my posts and pages and just import it to a new WordPress installation. Good thing I can install WordPress by just using Fantastico that means I don’t have to install WordPress manually. I don’t have a good track record of successfully installing WordPress manually. Even if I’ve been using WordPress for a long time, I still consider myself a newbie with the tool. So far, I have only created 3 WP themes ever since I started using WP. The rest would be modification of themes like the one I did here: FCB Fanclub Manila. It was a favor from my Dad’s friend and I got paid by doing that.

In other news, I won PinoyTwitter’s raffle contest! I was surprised to have won because I joined at the very last minute, as in the day of the deadline. And I get to choose my prize! From the prizes left, I chose to be hosted under Kath. It’s either I get a new domain and have my new domain hosted under her, or just get a subdomain from her. I’m still thinking of a domain name, do you have any suggestions? :)

There are only 2 contestants for the contest I’m holding, so for sure they’ll be the winner :P

UPDATE: I finally was able to move servers! Yay! Let’s celebrate! :P

Moving Servers

My host just switched to a new host and she sent me the necessary nameservers that I should update. I thought that’s all I need to do… Turns out I also need to move my files to the new server. So if you find that my site has gone offline, that’s probably because of the switch to a new server.

I’ll probably do the moving of files tomorrow or on Saturday evening. But for the meantime I have already exported a backup of my MySql database (all my posts and comments are now safe) except for this post haha! Since I’m already done exporting and downloaded the backup already *LOL*

So far I have two contestants for the contest. Yay! Thanks for the support Fatima and Beth :) *hugs*

Updates!

I’m building my link list. I just added three new links, they are: Gyk, Roxy & Scart. If you want to be added in my link list, just comment on any of my blog entries and I’ll add you as soon as I can :) I hope you could also add me to your links as well.

As for the contest, I have not progressed yet. I’m having a hard time finding out on how I could start it. Hopefully by the week ends, I’ll be able to come up with the mechanics etc. :)

Tagged and a Contest?

I’ve been tagged by Sami.

The rules:

1. Open your first photo folder.
2. Scroll down to the 10th photo.
3. Post that photo and story on your blog.
4. Tag five {or more} friends to do the same

Here’s the picture (click to enlarge):

The story:
It was my first weekend at Singapore and I had nothing else to do because I was so scared to explore SG alone on my first weekend. I just walked to the nearest supermarket and discovered this Apple flavored Yakult. :) So I bought one pack and tried it when I got back to the hotel. It tastes ok, but I still prefer the regular (no flavor) Yakult.

I’m tagging the following: Aichee, Beth, Fena, Gel & Sandra.

In an effort to increase my page rank, I’m thinking of holding a contest. I still need to brainstorm on how its going to happen and the price I’ll be giving away. Just check back once in awhile for updates :)

Orangebin Update

Last Friday, my site was down. I found out about it as I tried to access my site the “Error establishing database connection” error showed up instead of my customized theme. My mood all throughout the day was sad because I wasn’t able to do a backup of my site (database, themes, plugins, posts & pages) I thought I’d be able to do a backup via MySQL but when I was at the MySQL control panel, I find out that the database is gone :( So I had nothing else left to do, I felt much more sad because of it. I didn’t know how I’d be able to get a hold of my database any more. Blog entries since August 2008 is gone forever.

Saturday came and I received a plurk message from my host. She told me that my site was back up, so I hurriedly searched for WordPress plugins that would help me back up my site. I found two plugins, downloaded and installed them and soon enough I have a backup of my site. Yay! :D Just in case my host decides to switch hosts then at least I don’t have to start from scratch in building my site.

In case you’re wondering, the plugins I installed are the following:

Note to self: Always do back ups. As much as possible do back ups weekly. :)

REPOST: New Carnap/Kidnap Modus

That’s weird… the comments from my last blog post is gone. I know I got one from Fatima and Beth. But now they’re gone :(

Anyways, I’d like to share this email forwarded to me by my officemate. I’m hoping this isn’t true but I’m still posting it just in case or hopefully at least if this will be passed around the media might investigate on this and prove the story.

Attempted Carnapping & Abduction of My First Cousin
by: Philip Kimpo Jr.

My first cousin Steph asked me to disseminate this online so that others might know and safeguard themselves from this modus operandi. The criminals involved had disguised themselves as police (hopefully, it was indeed just a disguise); even their van had police markings. They were armed with an armalite.

The crime was attempted just meters away from her house inside their village in Sucat, Muntinlupa. [Erratum: I first wrote "Parañaque" because from my understanding, their village straddles the boundary between the two cities. My mistake and not my cousin's. My apologies.] By God’s grace, she survived the ordeal.

Please pass on and spread the word; maybe members of the media can check on this, too. Understandably, my cousin was traumatized by the event and I admire her for gathering her wits together to share her ordeal with the public.

This is her narration:

My comment: I never believe on online tests, and I’m still not a believer. Hehe!
