My boyfriend is now a proud owner of a brand new Compaq CQ40-416AU. I accompanied him awhile ago at SM Marikina to buy his new toy. He wanted the Dell Inspiron 1410, but unfortunately the only available stock was the one on display. So I told him to just get the CQ40 instead, so that we have the same laptops. While at SM Marikina, I also bought a cotton mini skirt for only 59Php!! The tag price says, 119Php but when the barcode was scanned the price changed to 59Php. The cashier had to double check the price because she couldn’t believe it as well. Haha! After buying the laptop, we went to BK to have our lunch. While having lunch, we noticed that most of the customers at BK were using their netbooks. We kinda envied them because netbooks are so portable and easy to bring wherever, unlike our notebooks. But then again, netbooks have small screens and I worry that it might strain my eyes.
While we’re on the topic of gadgets, did you ever buy a gadget and pay for it using your credit card and on installment? I did. I bought my Creative Zen and used my credit card and paid for it over 12 months. While my laptop I bought using my credit card and paid (still paying) for it over 6 months. I haven’t tried buying a cellphone though and paying it in installment. I’m just too scared because I might lose it or somebody might steal it and I still am not finished paying it. I don’t think there’s exclusive insurance leads for gadgets. I still haven’t heard of any insurance for any kind of gadget. Maybe it’s time to have such insurance, don’t you think?
I failed to keep my promise to blog at least twice a week.
I just don’t have anything worthwhile to blog about. Although, a lot has happened to me while I was MIA in blogging. Let me just share some highlights:
- I finally have a new laptop! I bought a Compaq CQ40-416AU last Saturday. I hope it turns out to be a worthwhile investment.
- Over the week, I got to think about my future. I actually had decided during the holidays that I should move on and find another company because I’ve been on bench for a very looong time, so I started applying online. An opportunity outside came up but at the same time I got accepted to work on a project starting February within my current company. I decided to stay because I wasn’t too sure that accepting the opportunity would help me in my career. Its something new and entirely different to what I am doing, although it still has a bit of Java. I really would want to focus on acquiring more skills and experience with Java development and build my career from there.
- My “game” plan for now is to get as much exposure and experience with the project that I’d be involved in and by the time I go back to being bench I’d start to apply and look for other opportunities outside. But then again, something might come up along the way that will make me to stay a little longer. We’ll see
I’m beginning to blog in bullets… that’s all for now.
I just bought a car cassette adapter from CD-R King. The reason why I bought one is so that I’d be able to play my Creative Zen while on the car. For some reason my car’s CD player is not working. It’s been broken for quite awhile and I haven’t had the time or the money to have it fixed. I also feel that it’s not that important to have it fixed since it’s only the CD player that’s broken. I’m also planning to buy a new stereo and just replace the stock/old stereo that came with the car. But then again, I don’t have the money. Well, I do have the money but I just don’t want to spend on something I feel is not that important. I also have a lot of things I’d like to buy but I still need to weigh things and order them by my needs.
Here’s my list:
- New laptop – I still don’t know what I should get. But I have my standards, and the specs should have at least 2GB of memory. I’d like to have a laptop where I could use Photoshop without slowing down and also maybe be able to do my work/programming. The last part I doubt it will happen. I always say that I’d do my work at home but that never happens.
- DVD player or portable DVD player – just so I could play my DVDs and have my TV series marathon
- Gaming console – Ever since I was a kid, I’ve always been a gamer. I remember the time when we had a family computer. From the moment I wake up, I turn on the family computer to play Mario Bros. I’m still thinking if I’d get a PSP or a Nintendo Wii.
From my list, I doubt it that I’ll get all of them. But my target is the laptop, that’s what I really need. Since this laptop I’m using is on the verge of dying. First the battery is already dead, so it’s just as if I’m using a desktop. And the most annoying thing about this laptop I’m using is how it’s frequent freezing. It takes awhile as well to open some applications like Firefox or Internet Explorer. I’m hoping I get to buy one by my birthday which is May of the next year. I just need to save up; I hope I do save enough money by then.
I’ve neglected my blog yet again. My domain (in-random.org) is expiring in two months time and I have no plans of renewing it since I really have not given much attention to it. I had plans for it but those plans did not materialize because of my lack of time and effort. Anyways, I have backed up my posts from in-random.org and hopefully I get a host for my orangebin.net. As you know, or if you haven’t noticed I just signed up for a free wordpress blog and “redirected” it to my domain name. I’d like to get a host so that I can install WordPress plugins and themes
I’m still contemplating if I should buy for the web space or just search for a free but decent host.
Enough of the domain/site related talk, about two weeks ago I received my new cellphone. Its the Nokia E51 and I have yet to explore the phone. But so far, I love it. I’ve been eyeing to get one since late last year but I just couldn’t because it was still expensive for my budget. So when the opportunity to get the phone came, I grabbed it right away. I was able to purchase it for only 6,500Php because of my boyfriend’s rebate from his Globe postpaid plan. I’m super thankful to him for making me avail it instead of him.

I’m thinking of buying a dual sim phone. Since I own two sim cards, one is Globe (postpaid) and one is Sun (prepaid). It’s such a hassle bringing two cellphones. So far I only have four choices: Samsung D880, Samsung D780, Verzio Duplii or Verzio Twinn. I will be making a series of blog posts at L.I-R.ORG regarding the mentioned mobile phones. Since I tend to do a lot of research on gadgets before I decide on what to purchase.
