Typhoon Santi
The Philippines was hit again by a storm. This time it hit Metro Manila during the wee hours of the morning. I woke up at around 2:30AM this morning because of the sound of the tree branches that keeps on slamming on the neighbour’s roof. I couldn’t sleep since then as I was terrified because of the strong winds. I opened the TV and tried to find out how strong this typhoon was. Minutes later the TV went off, brownout! So I then tried to go back to sleep but still can’t sleep well. When 4:30AM came our aunt who was sleeping downstairs called me up and told me to move my car because she feels its not safe since my car was below our avocado tree. Some branches were already falling to the ground. So I went down and saw the damage so far… The wind was really strong. I finally was able to doze off minutes after I went back to my room, but woke up by 6AM. I was still thinking if I should go to school today because there was no announcement of the cancellation of our class. I wanted to go because we’ll be having a quiz today. So I asked my mom if she’ll go to work, she said she won’t so I just did the same and stayed at home. I sent a text message to the school’s hotline number to inform that I’ll not be able to come to class. I tried calling as well, no one answered until around 8:30AM which is like 15 minutes before our class starts. The person on the other line told me that our teacher has not yet arrived but some of my classmates were already there. I knew then that we’ll not have our class because our teacher never came in late. I called up again by 9:30AM just to confirm if the teacher came, and I was informed that our class was suspended. Our teacher never came, apparently she sent out text messages and e-mail messages. I never received a text message from her, I was able to check my e-mail just this evening since the electricity came back by around 7:30PM only.
The whole day was spent on eating and sleeping. *LOL* Well, I was able to clean my drawer which is slowly being filled up with receipts, bills, letters etc. So that’s what I did in the morning before lunch. I also did some sweeping. I looked funny though because I was wearing a face mask so that I won’t inhale any dust/dirt. I’m easily allergic to dust or smoke, that I start sneezing non-stop which usually ends to colds. After lunch, I decided to start on reading some magazines but I ended up sleeping haha! When I woke up, I ate and then waited for dinner to eat again haha! What a productive day!
How about you? Where were you during the typhoon? What did you do?
