Real Estate and Me

July 17th, 2010

Even before I started working, I always had this idea in my head that I would want to have my own place. I would want to be on my own before finally settling down to start a family. I didn’t want to be someone’s daughter and straight to being someone’s wife. I wanted something in between. That’s why when somebody approaches me from the mall to give out condominium flyers; I would automatically take whatever he/she’s handing out (most of the time).

That’s why when my Mom brought up the idea of me working/living in Germany. I did not hesitate at all. Well, maybe I was, but still that’s the chance for me to experience my something in between. I was thinking at that time that there is no way that would happen that’s why maybe my Mom thought I was not taking it seriously. I mean, who would? We would need money for my plane ticket, room/apartment and at least a month’s worth of allowance.

Anyways, while we are on the subject of rooms/apartments… I hope I can find something like Naples real estate website for Deutschland. I have asked my teacher awhile ago after our class if she has any idea of how much a room would cost but she couldn’t remember because it was too long since the last time she has been there. The Naples Florida real estate website is really helpful for those looking for a place to rent or to stay in Florida. It provides almost everything- the price, details of the property and even pictures. They have condominiums, family homes, resort homes, luxury homes… name it and they’ve got it! As of this writing, they’ve already got 7,524 listings available for seekers. You can use the very user friendly search functionality that they’ve have in their homepage. You are one click away to owning or at least renting your dream home in Florida.

I’m off to do some research on the cost of living in Deutschland. Toodles!

Noises at Night

June 5th, 2010

One night I was awaken by a scream from our neighbor and the sound of something or should I say someone running on the roof. I couldn’t move for a moment but I wanted to look out of the window I was just too scared to move. This is actually the first time I heard something like that at night while sleeping. Before I would hear sounds but I was sure (was I?) that they were only cats on the roof. If only I could put up my own video surveillance system for the house, so I don’t have to peek out the window just to check from where the noise is coming from. But then again, I don’t want the camera to capture “unidentified flying objects” or any paranormal stuff. That would really freak me out and I might not be able to sleep soundly at night anymore.

Bills… Bills… Bills.

April 30th, 2010

Its that time of the month again when I start receiving bills and notices of payments and we still don’t have our salaries yet. Our salary is credited every 5th and 20th of the month. Its super hard for me to budget because of the difference in our pay period. I just got reminded that I need to pay my insurance on the 5th. Argh! Money in… Money out… just like that. Its so frustrating that it takes you weeks before you get your hard earned money but then only seconds to spend it. But then again this insurance is for my future, so for now I say its still worth it :)

My boyfriend and I have different views on insurances. Probably because he thinks of the present, while I always think of/for the future. I have encouraged him to get an insurance many times but he won’t. He won’t even check out exclusive insurance leads. For him the present is more important than the future. He’d worry first about the present than the future. While I always think about the future. I hope soon he realizes that sometimes its worth thinking about the future. That he should also plan for the future.

And while we are on the topic of the future, let me just share some quotes about the future:

“When it comes to the future, there are three kinds of people: those who let it happen, those who make it happen, and those who wonder what happened.”
“Losers live in the past. Winners learn from the past and enjoy working in the present toward the future.”
“My interest is in the future because I am going to spend the rest of my life there”

A few days to go…

April 22nd, 2010

A few days to go and it’s almost elections. I’m still undecided on who should I vote. One thing I’m sure though is that I won’t vote for NoyNoy or Villar. Besides, whatever happens or whatever the outcome may be it would always be the same scenario that nobody will ever be contented with the results. If the other one wins, the opponents will say that the winner cheated. I heard from somewhere that here in the Philippines, no one wins the elections. And its true, because no one accepts their defeat.

Why will I not vote for Noynoy? Its because I feel he isn’t really genuine. I feel that he might have just wanted to run for office because of what happened or because that’s what his supporters told him to do. Although, according to his website that he’d provide health insurance for all Filipinos (I wonder if he has reviewed several health insurance leads already).

Why will I not vote for Manny? I’m just scared that he might be all “too” business-minded.

Why will I not vote for either of them? Because they’re the ones always saying something bad about each other. Of course they don’t admit it but it’s always their party against the other. And I hate the “drama”.

I’d go for Gordon or Gibo. But I’m 90% for Gordon :) So that’s one down and 25 more to go (1 vice president, 12 senators, 1 partylist, 1 house of representative, 1 mayor, 1 vice mayor & 8 sangguniang panlungsod).

God please help us on May 10. May we have a clean and honest elections :)

Distance

April 17th, 2010

All I have been blogging lately is about work. So don’t get surprised when I blog about work once again. HAHA!

My first job was somewhere in Alabang and I actually told myself that THIS IS THE COMPANY. I imagined myself working there for 5 years… 10… 15… 16… forever and ever *lol* Not only because of how close it is to home but of the company itself. The pay is good, benefits are okay, there are extra-curricular activities like sportsfests and summer outing. We also have treats every Friday called, Bib Treat! (Bib is short for Bibendum, the mascot of Michelin). Sometime in 2008, there were rumors that the company is closing down and true enough it happened. Our company sold their shares/stocks to the company I’m now working for so by September 2008 we were all moved to a new company. Unfortunately, we had to move out of our Alabang office because it wasn’t big enough to occupy 200+ employees. January 2009 and we moved to McKinley Hill, Taguig City. Working at McKinley Hill is a hassle especially for commuters because there isn’t enough public transportation going inside McKinley Hill. That’s why all of us who from the south (Alabang, Laguna, Cavite) misses working in Alabang. One of my officemate even told me that she’d like to go back and work at Insular Life Bldg (where our old office was) even if it means that she’d sell insurance sales leads and not do anything related to IT. The distance is really a burden to us because our salary is just enough, imagine my transportation expense every month is 6K :( I don’t get to save from my salary anymore because of my expenses :( And we haven’t had salary increase for 2 years already :( I just hope this year we get to have an increase even just to cover the 6K transportation expense I incur monthly. How I miss working in Alabang.

Busy Bee

April 11th, 2010

I’m confused, is it the first week or second week of April already? How time flies so fast. May is just around the corner… time to celebrate my Dad’s birthday… my birthday… but wait! I just got an email alert reminding me that my insurance policy is due by May and I must pay XXXXX amount. :( I’m seriously thinking of unsubscribing to one of my insurance policy. Unless something good happens at work *pay increase* If only I could sell my policy… would anyone be interested in insurance leads? :P

Anyways, I’ve been busy lately at work. Although, I still haven’t been assigned to any development work yet. Last Holy Monday and Tuesday I was surprised with the task that was assigned to me. I never did a deployment by myself and that would be my first time. I was so afraid that I would mess up, but fortunately I was able to do a deployment on both System Testing and SIT environments! And because of that I again was asked to do the deployment last week. The down part of being a deployment manager is that I would be usually the last one to leave the office since I have to wait for the developers to finish whatever that needs to be deployed. Well, its either I wait or I just come in very early the next day. I choose to come in early last Thursday to do the deployment to SysTest by 6:30AM. Unfortunately, I also had to do a SIT package that day as well and a SIT package can’t be done unless the application deployed in SysTest passes testing… the testing was done by 6:30PM. Yep, 12 hours in the office… actually 13 hours since I had to do the SIT package and send an e-mail to AU. I left the office at 7:30AM. I was the first one from the team at the office but was the last one out (including the tester). And oh, the TL sent an email last Thursday reminding me that I should come in early tomorrow morning for support. I just hope tomorrow I can leave early as well :)

One Guy Didn't

April 4th, 2010

This is my favorite poem for Easter. Read on to know why. :)

Three guys were tried for crimes against humanity.
Two guys committed crimes.
One guy didn’t.

Three guys were given government trials.
Two guys had fair trials.
One guy didn’t.

Three guys were whipped and beaten.
Two guys had it coming.
One guy didn’t.

Three guys were given crosses to carry.
Two guys earned their crosses.
One guy didn’t.

Three guys were mocked and spit at along the way.
Two guys cursed and spit back.
One guy didn’t.

Three guys were nailed to crosses.
Two guys deserved it.
One guy didn’t.

Three guys agonized over their abandonment.
Two guys had reason to be abandoned.
One guy didn’t.

Three guys talked while hanging on their crosses.
Two guys argued.
One guy didn’t.

Three guys knew death was coming.
Two guys resisted.
One guy didn’t.

One.
Two.
Three guys died on three crosses.

Three days later.
Two guys remained in their graves.
One guy didn’t.

Eyeglasses, anyone?

March 30th, 2010

From our family I am the only one who doesn’t have to wear any glasses. I often wonder why because I’m the one who is so addicted with the computer. I remember when I was still a child and we had a family computer. The first thing I do in the morning is to play Mario Brothers on our family computer. When we had our very own PC and internet connection, I would stay up late chatting with friends and still manage to wake up early to continue using the computer. Now that I’m working, I’m in front of the computer for 8+ hours. My office mates keep on reminding me that I shouldn’t wash my face because my eyes are tired from being in front of the computer but that doesn’t stop me. I still wash my face every after lunch so that I’d feel fresh again :P

Last January, we had our APE and my eyes were examined. And according to the doctor, although I have a 20/20 vision I have mild astigmatism. She recommended that I wear eyeglasses especially because of the demands of my job. I researched further on my condition and found out that astigmatism is a common condition and is usually present from birth. I then started searching for different kinds and styles of eyeglasses when I stumbled upon Eric’s Review of Zenni Optical. Zenni Optical has the lowest price progressive glasses which makes them the #1 online Rx glasses store in Brooklyn. The lowest prescription glasses that you can get from them costs 8USD that’s more or less 400PHP! They have so many kinds of glasses as well, so you’ll have tons and tons of eyeglasses to choose from! Here are just some of the glasses that I liked: Read the rest of this entry »

What's on your mind?

March 20th, 2010

I couldn’t think of a better subject for this. Just thought I’d update with random stuff. :)

I changed my mind and renewed orangebin. Its just hard to let go of the name, I’ve had this for almost 4 years (I think) and still haven’t grew tired of it. I still bought a new domain name though and will share the URL once I’m done setting it up.

I’ve been eating a lot lately and I blame PMS. *LOL* Anything for an excuse for pigging out. But tomorrow I told my dad that I’ll come with him on his morning walk. I need to have time for physical activities no matter what. That would be my goal for the coming weeks and maybe months.

Tomorrow, I’d also go to My Health Center for my Urinalysis. It’s way overdue and the office nurse did a follow up on me already. I was supposed to go today but was too lazy, once I saw the Sucat exit I decided to do it tomorrow. :P The office doctor told me that the salt level in my body (urine) was too high and also there’s something (can’t remember the term) that’s too high as well and it might be a cause of bacterial infection so she prescribed some expensive antibiotics that I had to take for 2 weeks. And after the 2 weeks, I’m supposed to get my repeat urinalysis but wasn’t able to because I had my period. It’s been 2 weeks after my period and I still haven’t gone for the urinalysis. Haha! I must do it tomorrow, hopefully I’d be in a better mood :)
